A teenager has been charged following an alleged machete attack on the light rail in Sydney’s CBD.
NSW Police received reports of an assault on a light rail service at Town Hall on George St about 10.30pm on Tuesday.
It is alleged two boys assaulted a third boy, aged 15, while on the tram and then fled before police arrived.
The 15-year-old was treated by paramedics for a stab wound to his left arm, he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police deemed the light rail service a crime scene and transported it to the Randwick depot, where it was forensically examined.
On Thursday, officers arrested a 15-year-old teenager at a home in Sydney’s inner south.
A knife sheath was also seized from the home and taken for examination.
The teenager has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is being held in custody awaiting an appearance in children’s court on Friday.
Police are still hunting for a second teenager involved in the alleged attack.
