Officials reported that 10 people died in Turkey’s next school shooting in two weeks after another victim passed away while receiving medical care in a hospital.
Prior to the firing the day before, six of the injured were still in critical condition, according to authorities.
On Wednesday, Isa Aras Mersinli, 14, opened flames on two thick college classrooms in Kahramanmaras, killing one teacher, eight pupils, and injuring 13 people.
The shooter, who was also killed, showed up at the school with his father, a retired police director, who was detained following the attack, and seven publications.
The attack on Wednesday came only one day after a former pupil opened fire on a high school in local Sanliurfa state, leaving 16 people injured. Most of the subjects were kids. The attacker later committed suicide. 20 persons had been detained as of Thursday in connection with the Sanliurfa firing on Tuesday.
A joint college security meeting between the interior and education ministries took place on Thursday in the capital, Ankara, with the participation of both ministers, all 81 of Turkey’s statewide governors, police chiefs, and statewide education directors.
The suspect’s account portrait on WhatsApp was a picture of Elliot Rodger, a college student who fatally shot six people in California in 2014, according to Turkey’s national police office.
The Ministry of Family and Social Services announced on Thursday that it had established a group to “provide mental help” to students and their families. Additionally, it intends to conduct an in-depth research into similar incidents.
Each of the eight individuals, all 11 years old, who were all killed on Wednesday, had their burial on Thursday evening. Ayla Kara, 55, a math teacher who perished in the attack, was even interred on Thursday.
Cevdet Yesil, whose brother Ali Gokturk Yesil was one of the victims, claimed he rushed to the university on Wednesday after being informed of the firing.
” And sadly, we didn’t see our brother until 5o’clock.” Our safety makes eventually located him, Yesil said.
” We went to the hospital and located ( his ) remains. We discovered that he had passed away.
In Ankara and the town of Izmir, thousands of educators gathered to need greater school safety.
In Turkey, school murders were uncommon up until this year. However, lots of pupils were detained on Thursday because of social media posts that suggested they may carry out similar attacks.
Justice Minister Akin Gurlek reported that 67 social media users were detained for content that targeted 54 different institutions.
