Rebel Wilson claims she has been “bullied and harassed” for being a “truth teller”, denying she fabricated a sexual harassment complaint against a young actor for her own benefit, a court has been told.
Charlotte MacInnes is suing the Bridesmaids star over a series of social media posts the younger actor says implied that she walked back a sexual harassment complaint against one of the producers of Ms Wilson’s film The Deb to further her career.
Ms Wilson on Thursday denied referring to the young actor as a victim of sexual harassment in emails and social media posts “utterly for yourself”.
“I have received no benefit from this experience that has led to a court case with MacInnes,” Ms Wilson told the Federal Court in Sydney.
“All I’ve done is told the truth, at significant cost to myself, at significant detriment.
“I’ve been bullied and harassed because I’ve said the truth and continued to say the truth to many people, some of which are extremely rich and powerful.”

Ms MacInnes’ barrister, Sue Chrysanthou, suggested the Hollywood star was “extremely rich and powerful” compared with her co-star, to which Ms Wilson replied: “I’m not sure of her financial status, she seems to be living quite a luxurious international lifestyle.”
The Pitch Perfect star denied suggestions the only reason she had insight into the young actor’s lifestyle was because she had been “stalking and following her”.
“Absolute nonsense,” Ms Wilson told the court.
She later told the court she is “known as a truth teller” when asked about the Instagram posts she is being sued over, in what Ms Wilson described as a “baseless defamation lawsuit”.
The tense questioning followed Ms Wilson’s denial that she “made up” a narrative to divide Ms MacInnes and Ms Ghost, telling the trial on Wednesday the alleged complaint was a “nightmare situation”.
“I worked for years (on the film) … it would not at all be in my interest to make up a sexual harassment complaint between those two very important people,” Ms Wilson told the court on Wednesday.

Rebel denies Snapchat hack, nude leak: court
She also batted away suggestions that she arranged for someone to hack into Ms MacInnes’ Snapchat account after the young actor alleged in court documents that she believed Ms Wilson was behind the hacking of her account and subsequent leaking of a nude photograph of her to her entire contact list.
“That is absolutely an outrageous statement to make in court, that I moonlight as a hacker,” Ms Wilson replied.
“I didn’t say you hacked anyone … did you arrange for anyone to hack her Snapchat shortly after you were sued by her?” Ms Chrysanthou asked.
“Obviously not,” Ms Wilson responded.
The alleged hack came just days after Ms MacInnes filed legal proceedings against Ms Wilson in September 2025, the young actor’s affidavit alleges.
“It was completely terrifying and caused me a new kind of anxiety. I was not myself for some time after,” Ms MacInnes alleged in her affidavit.

Rebel opens up on social media posts: court
Ms Wilson claimed she wanted to allege her co-star “changed her story because of huge enticements”, including a role in another of Ms Ghost’s productions and a record deal, by making the series of posts Ms MacInnes claims defamed her.
“She changed her story, she flip-flopped, and she was given huge benefits,” Ms Wilson told the court.
She denied suggestions she knew the posts would harm Ms MacInnes, claiming the posts “hasn’t seemed to harm her” because of these alleged “benefits”.
The Hollywood star was asked if her previous evidence that she regards herself as a “champion of women” is proved false by one of the posts, in which she claimed Ms MacInnes was wearing a culturally inappropriate outfit.
The A-Lister was cut off as she attempted to answer: “I think if you looked at my actions throughout my 24 years …”
“This is you acting in a terrible and despicable manner towards a young woman, isn’t it?” Ms Chrysanthou SC chimed in.
“No,” Ms Wilson replied.
Ms Wilson rejected suggestions she had acted unprofessionally by making the posts.
“I don’t classify it as an attack, I classify it as me telling the truth,” Ms Wilson replied.

The case centres on a bath producer Amanda Ghost and Ms MacInnes shared in September 2023 at Ms Ghost’s penthouse in Bondi. Both women wore swimmers to warm up in the bath after the producer suffered a medical episode following a sunset swim at Bondi Beach.
The Hollywood actor alleges Ms MacInnes told her that she was uncomfortable with the bath incident and later withdrew the complaint to further her career, but Ms MacInnes denies ever making a complaint.
The trial continues.
