Marcus Stoinis reveals MS Dhoni’s winning mantra to him

Marcus Stoinis revealed MS Dhoni’s advice to him after he played a match-winning knock for LSG against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on April 24, Tuesday. Stoinis muscled his way to a blazing century to guide his team to an emphatic win by 6 wickets. Chennai’s fortress was breached as the resurgent Super Giants registered a double over the Super Kings in the tournament.

In a special video shared by LSG on their social media handle, Stoinis talked about Dhoni’s golden words to him. Stoinis mentioned the winning mantra revealed by the 5-time IPL winning captain. Dhoni’s inspiring words reckoned that one need not change themselves according to the situation. Stoinis affirmed how this mindset has worked in Dhoni’s favour and the reason he is ahead of everyone else. LSG captioned the post, “MS spoke, and MS listened.”

“MS Dhoni told this one thing to me. He said in big games, everyone thinks that I’ve got to do something extra. I’ve got to do something different. His mantra and how he speaks to himself is he stays there, he stands still and he says everyone else is going to change. I’m going to be the only one here that doesn’t change and that holds him ahead of everyone else.,” Stoinis said in the video.

A whirlwind knock of 124* runs by Stoinis managed to silence the loud Chepauk crowd. LSG did the unthinkable by winning at Chennai’s den and chasing down the target of 211 runs. Stoinis turned out to be Lucknow’s hero as he registered the highest-ever score while chasing in the history of the IPL. Stoinis’ knock helped LSG register the highest-ever successful chase at Chepauk as the star batter also marked the highest score against CSK in IPL.

Riding on skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s hundred, CSK set a competitive total on the board. LSG lost early wickets in the chase but CSK were hurt by a couple of misfields. Nicholas Pooran and Stoinis shared a magnificent stand of 70 runs from 34 balls. The star all-rounder carried an onslaught on the CSK bowlers and helped Lucknow win a record chase.
