Rupali Ganguly has found herself at the centre of an online discussion after reposting a video that called out Alia Bhatt over her recent appearance at Milan Fashion Week. The repost, shared on her Instagram Stories, raised questions about Alia’s outfit and accessories, alleging the use of animal-derived leather.
Although the Anupamaa actor did not write anything while sharing the video, many social media users viewed it as her indirect reaction to the controversy, especially considering her vocal support for animal welfare.

The original clip, posted by a user named Sai Lohith, criticised Alia’s association with Gucci and her fashion choices at the global event, where she attended as the luxury label’s brand ambassador.
The video alleged that her outfit was made using leather sourced from young animals, claiming that “3-month-old baby calves and 4-month-old baby lambs” were used. It directly questioned the actor by asking, “Is this what you support Alia?”
The criticism also targeted Alia’s accessories, including the Gucci Horsebit 1955 shoulder bag, with the creator accusing the brand of promoting harmful practices against animals.

In an emotional appeal, the speaker said, “Your cat, Edward, how would you feel if someone murdered your son and used his skin to make bags and shoes?”
The video further accused the brand of “exploiting snakes, crocodiles, silkworms, cows, sheep, and goats.”
It also questioned the messaging behind CoExist by Alia Bhatt, Alia’s initiative that advocates harmony between humans and animals.
Criticising her, the user said, “If this is the idea of your co-existence, then the animals are doomed.”
While Rupali Ganguly has not clarified her stance beyond the repost, Alia Bhatt is yet to respond to the criticism.
