Police shot dead a gunman who allegedly barricaded himself in a local mall and killed at least five people on Saturday in the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ihor Klymenko, the head of the Ukrainian interior ministry, claimed in a statement posted on social media that unique military police units stormed the store after negotiations with the shooter failed. The perpetrator was killed, he claimed, while he was retaliating against imprisonment.
At least five people were killed, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and ten more were taken to the hospital.
Klymenko told reporters at the picture that police diplomats spoke with the shooter for about 40 minutes, but she did not speculate as to what the attacker was thinking.
