Former cricketers Tom Moody and Wasim Jaffer were in awe of MS Dhoni’s ability to perform for the team and defy all the odds despite his age. Dhoni has been in stellar form this season and played an exhilarating knock for CSK against LSG at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on April 19, Friday. However, Dhoni’s heroics with the bat were not enough for CSK as LSG cruised to an 8-wicket win.

Moody, while speaking on ESPNcricinfo, found it almost impossible for a player with very less practice prior to the tournament to come out all guns blazing. He found the 42-year-old Dhoni still very hungry for runs.

“42 years old, still very fit, still very focussed, still very hungry, but the puzzle is, he does not play any cricket coming in and playing in the IPL. It is hard to come out of the cold and suddenly have that expectation to be able to perform at an elite level is near impossible,” Moody said.

MS DHONI’s RIVETING CAMEO

The noise levels peaked at the Ekana Stadium as MS Dhoni walked out to bat. However, Dhoni has not only been making the crowd stand on their feet with his entry, but with his thunderous stroke-making as well. As the fans were still recovering from Dhoni’s 4-ball 20, he produced yet another stellar finish to the team with his sizzling 28-run cameo from 9 balls.

Jaffer understood that it could be really difficult to hit the death bowlers, but Dhoni’s stellar hitting makes it look easy.

“It’s incredible. Hitting in the death is one of the most difficult things against the bowlers who are on top of their game, playing international cricket, and he does that so easily. It’s incredible to watch him do that without any match practice,” Jaffer said.

The Mahi mania was yet again on display as the fans were in for a treat yet again. The CSK star was on a boundary-hitting spree as he struck at a rate of 311.11 with 3 fours and 2 sixes, including a massive six of 101-metre. He took on the likes of Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur to take CSK’s total to 176 runs. However, the target of 177 runs did not prove to be enough as CSK suffered their 3rd loss of the season.
