Ranveer Singh, the Dhurandhar, has set the internet abuzz with his latest advertisement, which features none other than his father-in-law, Prakash Padukone. While their camaraderie is a highlight, fans have been quick to spot something else in the video. The ad, for an indigenous payment service app, has grabbed attention for what many believe is a cheeky nod to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee.

So, what’s the fuss all about? In this new commercial, Ranveer shares the screen with the former badminton champion, making it their first on-screen appearance together.

The ad is sprinkled with personal touches from Ranveer’s life, including calling Prakash “Pappa” and scenes featuring badminton rackets. But what really has everyone talking is a blink-and-miss moment featuring a poster in the background. The poster reads “Bavandar: The Tornado,” and fans are convinced it’s a subtle jab at Dhruv Rathee.

Here’s the ad:

Fans quickly connected the dots to Dhruv Rathee’s previous videos where he mentioned a fictional film titled “Operation Bhavandar” while critiquing the Dhurandhar series.

Social media is buzzing with comments, with one user calling it a “meta joke” and another exclaiming, “I see what y’all did there!!!”

All about Dhruv Rathee and the Dhurandhar controversy

Dhruv Rathee has been vocal in his criticism of the Dhurandhar films, labelling them as politically driven. He mentioned that “well-made propaganda is more dangerous” and that Dhurandhar, being based on reality, is more engaging and believable than other films like Pathaan or Tiger.

Dhurandhar, set in Pakistan, follows an Indian spy infiltrating the notorious Lyari gangs. Directed by Aditya Dhar and based on true events from the early 2000s, the film features a star-studded cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan.

Dhurandhar‘s box office stats

Now, let’s talk numbers. The Dhurandhar films have shattered all records at the Indian box office, crossing the Rs 3,000-crore mark and leaving other franchises in the dust.

According to trade website Sacnilk, the Dhurandhar series has raked in a whopping Rs 3,019.35 crore worldwide, outpacing even the Baahubali and Pushpa series. This makes Dhurandhar the first Indian film series to cross Rs 3,000 crore globally, with both instalments entering the Rs 1,000 crore club.

So, whether it’s the cheeky poster jibe or the record-breaking box office numbers, Dhurandhar has snubbed all opposition. What’s next for Bollywood? Only time will tell, but for now, it seems Ranveer Singh has delivered yet another hit, both on-screen and off.
