A 27-year-old fitness trainer was found hanging at his home in Bengaluru, with his family alleging that he was being blackmailed by a 42-year-old married woman, with whom he had a relationship, over money and property, police said on Monday. The victim, Dileep, allegedly told the woman that she was harassing him, and he was ending his life, police said.
Dileep was a bodybuilder who had won several competitions and worked as a trainer at a gym, according to his family. Police said the incident took place on the night of April 11, which came to light after the woman messaged Dileep’s sister, informing her about his alleged decision to take the extreme step.

The family rushed to his room, broke open the door and found the victim hanging from a ceiling fan.
According to police, Dileep had met the 42-year-old woman around two years ago at the gym where he worked and she trained. Their acquaintance grew into a friendship and later developed into a romantic relationship.
Police said that before his death, Dileep allegedly made a video call to the woman and told her about his decision.
His family has accused the woman of blackmailing him for money and property. They also claimed that the matter had earlier reached the police and was settled mutually in the presence of the woman’s husband, but the alleged harassment continued.
The family has demanded strict action against the woman, blaming her for harassing Dileep, who later killed himself.
Police said an investigation is underway and the Nelamangala Town police are examining all aspects of the case.
