The court has reserved its decision on the fourth supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which names Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five others as accused. The case, linked to allegations of corruption and money laundering in the excise policy scam, will see further hearings on September 3. Currently, Kejriwal remains in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with these charges. The Supreme Court has also postponed its hearing on Kejriwal’s bail plea to September 5, following a request from the CBI for additional time to file its affidavit. Kejriwal has filed two petitions: one challenging the denial of bail and another contesting his arrest by the CBI. In its affidavit, the CBI has alleged that the excise policy’s key decisions were made at Kejriwal’s direction, in coordination with former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP and CBI of conspiring to keep Kejriwal imprisoned, with Sisodia claiming that the CBI is being manipulated by the BJP to influence public opinion through media leaks. In response, the BJP has challenged AAP to present evidence to the Supreme Court if they believe the CBI’s actions are biased. The CBI has not yet commented on these allegations.
