Australians are dreaming big, buying up lotto tickets for their chance to become an overnight multi-millionaire in Thursday night’s $60m Powerball jackpot.

Up to one in six Australians are predicted to enter the draw in the hope of winning the fourth-biggest jackpot offered by any lottery game in the country so far this year.

The jackpot had risen to a massive $60m because there hadn’t been any Powerball division one winners in the past four draws, the Lott said.

Those who are keen to try their luck may be interested to know that the most frequently drawn numbers from the main barrel are 17, 7, 3, 9, 2 and 11.

Meanwhile, the least frequently drawn numbers from the main barrel are 33, 15, 31, 26, 8 and 1.

The most frequently drawn numbers from the separate Powerball barrel are 2, 19, 4, 3, 6 and 10.

Meanwhile, the least frequently drawn from the Powerball barrel are 14, 16, 12, 8, 5 and 1.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said if one lucky person was to win the entire $60m jackpot on Thursday, they would become the third biggest lottery winner of the year to date.

“Australia’s biggest lottery winners of 2024 to date are the Hawthorne woman and Singleton couple who both took home $100m in February’s historic $200 million Powerball draw,” he said.

“The Powerball jackpot is on the rise once again and we can’t wait to see if someone snares $60m this week or whether the prize will climb higher for next week’s draw.

“Whether it’s selecting their special numbers, indulging in whimsical daydreams or chatting with friends about what they would do with the winnings, there’s growing excitement among Aussie players about this Thursday’s $60 million draw.”

This year, six lucky Powerball division one winning entries have collectively taken home more than $270m, with three wins each in Queensland and NSW.

The draw closes at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday.
