At least 1 people were killed after a powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain swept through Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi and Budaun districts on Wednesday evening, officials said. The storm uprooted trees, damaged houses, disrupted traffic movement and affected communication networks in several areas.

In Bhadohi, six people died in storm-related incidents across the district. Strong winds, dust storms and rain hit the district around 5 pm, turning the sky dark and forcing people to remain indoors as the intensity of the storm made movement difficult.

Several trees fell on roads, disrupting traffic at multiple places. Tin sheds and solar panels were blown away, while collapsing walls damaged parked cars and motorcycles. Police and district administration teams launched relief and rescue operations in affected areas.

According to officials, four members of a family died in Khargasenpur village under the Suriyawan police station area after a tree fell on their house during the storm. The victims included a woman and her three daughters.

Additional District Magistrate Kunwar Virendra Kumar Maurya said authorities received reports from several parts of Bhadohi about uprooted trees, damaged electricity poles and destruction to houses. He said restoration and rescue work faced difficulties because mobile communication networks were disrupted due to the storm.

Maurya added that sub-divisional magistrates, tehsildars, district officials and police teams were inspecting affected areas and carrying out relief work across all three tehsils of the district. He said the exact number of casualties and injured persons would become clear after detailed reports arrive.

In Budaun district, five people, including two minor girls, died and five others suffered injuries in separate incidents caused by the severe dust storm and rain.

In Siddhpur Kaitholi village under Bisoli police station limits, Mausami (10) and Rajni (9) died after a mud wall of a hut collapsed on them during the storm. The girls had taken shelter inside the hut along with two women, identified as Kallo and Neha, after strong winds began. The wall collapsed, trapping all four under the debris. While the two girls died on the spot, the women sustained serious injuries.

In another incident in Tark Paroli village under Faizganj Behta police station area, a woman identified as Laxmi (40) died after a tree fell on a tubewell room where several people had taken shelter from the storm. The roof of the structure collapsed, injuring three others, including a woman named Geeta, whose condition remains critical.

In a separate accident near Bilsi Road in the Bisoli area, truck driver Yogesh (32) died after a eucalyptus tree uprooted and fell on his vehicle, police said.

Another youth, identified as Anshul Sharma (22) from Sahukara locality in Bisoli, died after a tree fell on him while he was on his way to deliver food to his father during the storm.
