A school in Sydney’s west has been placed in lockdown and a teacher has been injured after a student allegedly arrived on campus armed with a knife.

Chifley College Dunheved campus in St Marys went into lockdown just before 1.30pm on Thursday.

“To our school community, we are currently in lockdown,” the school’s statement read.

“Please be assured all students and staff are safe. More information will be provided shortly.”

NSW Police confirmed a teacher was injured as they tried to wrestle the knife from the student.
