Netball is back on free-to-air TV with a new landmark broadcast deal designed to grow the sport’s accessibility and interest across the nation.

The Suncorp Super Netball domestic league and Australian Diamonds matches, including the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, are included in the new deal with the Nine Network to broadcast games across their channels and on streaming service Stan Sport.

“I’ve heard loud and clear from our community that they want to be able to access the sport in the easiest possible way,” said Netball Australia Chair Liz Ellis.

“So whether it’s on free-to-air television, whether it’s on streaming, netball will be there and that’s so exciting.”

Netball Australia is eager to use the deal as a springboard to inspire future stars and grow participation to two million over the next 10 years.

“We want young girls and young boys to look at the game on the television and want to play,” Ellis said.

Current Melbourne Vixens star Jo Weston is excited about the momentum in the sport ahead of a home World Cup.

“For all of us that have been playing, I think having our sport accessible to everyone, to our fans and our new fans, it’s just going to be such an incredible moment for us and we just want to be where people can watch us and hopefully they can get on board,” she said.

Weston has already won a World Cup and Commonwealth Games Gold and now dreams of more success on home soil.

“Hopefully the team that gets selected can put in a competitive fight to bring the World Cup trophy back home,” she said.
