Anthony Kiedis’ girlfriend Eileen Kelly has written about her relationship with an older partner.
Describing the experience of dating someone “more than twice my age” in a personal essay. Eileen, 30, shared the reflections in an article published by Vogue, titled My Boyfriend Is Double My Age.
While she did not name her partner, Eileen has been publicly linked to red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony, 63, for months, with the pair seen together on multiple occasions this year.
In her essay, Eileen recounted conversations with friends about relationships and reflected on her own, explaining how her perspective differs from common assumptions about age-gap dynamics.
She wrote: “My own boyfriend is more than twice my age, which is either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask.”
She also described how her partner “seems genuinely excited to be with me” rather than searching for “someone better”, adding that he knows “he’s one lucky b******”.
Eileen described meeting her partner at a birthday party, where they bonded over a shared connection to Hawaii.
She wrote: “We joked about whether we’d ever passed each other on the same stretch of sand, or stood in line next to each other at the same health food store.”
She said the age gap “didn’t register at first”, and she initially believed they would become friends before their relationship developed further.
Addressing wider perceptions, Eileen acknowledged the potential challenges of age-gap relationships, noting disparities in finances or emotional maturity “can set up a dangerous dynamic”.
However, she emphasised her own independence.
She wrote: “I love my boyfriend, but I’m not at risk of losing everything if we break up.”
Eileen also described public reactions to the relationship, including awkward assumptions and questions.
She said: “What people assume about me, about him, about the structure of our relationship, often reveals more about them than anything that exists between my boyfriend and me.
“The relationship itself becomes secondary to what it represents.”
In defiance of widespread trolling about their age gap romance, Eileen and rocker Anthony have been photographed together at several events, including appearances around the Grammy Awards in February and at an Oscars afterparty hosted by Guy Oseary and Madonna in March.
