After the first two sessions of the China Open in Shanghai, two American sportsmen are in good shape.
After backing up his entry five-under 66, which featured a hole-out owl, with a 67 in the next round on Friday, the young Australian professional Kuangyu” Tony” Chen was just three photos off the lead and was now nine under for the game and in a share of fifth area.
In the next round, the 23-year-old led joint-leaders Shaun Norris and Bernd Wiesberger by three shots when the latter shot six strokes and two birdie.
Another American, Anthony Quayle, is even within striking range.
The 31-year-old Quayle opened with a one-under-70 on Thursday, but the 31-year-old Quayle shot a seven-under-64 on Friday that included seven birdie and no birdie.
The person who was born and raised in Gove, a mine area on the north-east of the Northern Territory, is eight under for the game, only four shots off the guide and in a share of seventh place.
On Friday, South African Norris shot a sizable eight-under-par 63 in the first round to add to it with a four-under-par 67.
Wiesberger, an Austrian, carded a five-under-66 on Friday, building on his excellent 64 from the opening round.
