As key consultations linked to the 8th Pay Commission are set to begin in Delhi, the commission’s official website appears inaccessible, leaving central government employees and pensioners without a key source of updates during an important phase of the salary revision process.

The development comes as meetings with employee unions and staff associations are scheduled from April 28 to April 30 in the national capital.

It was reported earlier that not all stakeholders may be accommodated in the first round of consultations due to the large number of requests received.

The timing of the outage is notable because interest in the 8th Pay Commission has grown sharply in recent weeks, with several employee bodies placing fresh demands before the panel.

The website remained inaccessible despite multiple attempts to access it.

Among the key proposals is a minimum basic pay of Rs 69,000 with a fitment factor of 3.83 from the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), along with a 6% annual increment.

It is worth noting that some employee groups have sought a Rs 72,000 minimum pay, a fitment factor of 4.0, and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.

Separately, postal employee representatives have raised demands including a 3.83 fitment factor, 6% annual increments, HRA linked to dearness allowance, and wider health coverage benefits ahead of the Delhi meetings.

With no formal outcome yet from the upcoming consultations, employees are relying heavily on media reports and public statements from unions for updates. In that context, the website outage may add to uncertainty among lakhs of workers and retirees tracking the next pay revision cycle.

It was not immediately clear whether the portal issue was caused by heavy traffic, technical maintenance or a temporary server problem. There was no immediate official statement on the disruption.
