Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan set social media abuzz on Sunday after posting a video of himself dancing to the popular track ‘Afghan Jalebi’ following India’s comprehensive win over Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Colombo. The clip, captioned “Padosiyo, Sunday kaisa raha?”, was widely interpreted as a playful dig at the arch-rivals and quickly went viral among Indian cricket fans.

India registered a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash in Colombo to secure a place in the Super Eight stage. Pathan’s celebration added to the post-match buzz, with supporters flooding the comments section in appreciation of both the performance and the former cricketer’s enthusiasm.

This is not the first time Pathan has celebrated India’s win with the same song. He had danced to ‘Afghan Jalebi’ after India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup last year and also after Afghanistan’s memorable victory over England in the Champions Trophy, turning it into a recurring celebratory gesture.

INDIA CRUSH PAKISTAN IN COLOMBO

India’s emphatic win was built on an outstanding all-round display, led by Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Batting first at the R. Premadasa Stadium, India posted 175 for 7 on a surface where the ball gripped and held. Kishan’s 77 off 40 balls proved decisive. The left-hander combined power with finesse, countering Pakistan’s spin-heavy attack with authority. He reached his fifty in just 27 deliveries and shared an 87-run partnership for the second wicket with Tilak Varma, steadying the innings after an early setback.

Although Pakistan pulled things back briefly in the middle overs, useful contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh ensured India crossed the 170 mark, which turned out to be more than adequate on a challenging pitch.

In reply, Pakistan faltered early. Bumrah struck with precision and control, returning figures of 2 for 17, while Hardik Pandya provided crucial breakthroughs. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114, unable to recover from the early blows.

With this victory, India improved their head-to-head record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup matches to 8-1, reinforcing their dominance in global tournaments.

Brief Score: T20 World Cup, IND vs PAK: India (175/7) beat Pakistan (114-all out in 18 ov) by 61 runs in a Group A match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
