A married woman, her lover and one other person have been arrested near Agra in connection with her husband’s murder. Interestingly, the case was cracked by the police in less than 24 hours since initiating the probe, with a QR code reportedly acting as a key clue that led investigators to the accused.

The victim has been identified as one Lokendra, whose partially burnt body was found beside a road after he went missing on April 1, officials said.

Subsequently, a case was filed on the basis of a complaint lodged by his brother, who alleged that the killing resulted from a conspiracy hatched by his sister-in-law and Mahesh.

The police immediately formed five teams to solve the case, officials said. During the investigation, police reportedly found an empty liquor bottle at the site from where the body was recovered.

The investigators purportedly used a QR code on the bottle to trace the liquor shop from where it was purchased.

Following this, they thoroughly examined the establishment’s CCTV footage.

The security camera video showed that Lokendra had come there with Mahesh and Dharamveer, who were promptly detained after the police uncovered their alleged involvement.

During questioning, Mahesh allegedly revealed that Lokendra had found out about his extramarital affair with his wife. Lokendra expressed strong objection to the relationship and told his family and neighbours about it, per officials.

Despite this, Mahesh and the woman kept meeting behind his back, the police said. According to the police, Lokendra’s wife then decided to get him killed.

Mahesh reeled in his friend, Dharamveer, in the sinister plot, officials said. The duo allegedly lured Lokendra on the pretext of drinking alcohol.

They took him to an empty field, where all three of them consumed liquor together, officials stated. Shortly afterwards, Mahesh and Dharamveer allegedly strangulated Lokendra and then set his body on fire to cover up the crime, officials informed.

A tattoo on Lokendra’s body helped in the identification of the corpse, the police said.
