A man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl after offering her and her two younger sisters a lift while they were returning from an Eid fair, police said.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the accused, identified as Deepak, persuaded the three sisters to get into his car on the pretext of dropping them home. He then allegedly locked the two younger siblings inside the vehicle and took the elder sister to a secluded location where he raped her.

The victim told police that the accused threatened her with a weapon and warned her against resisting or speaking about the incident. The matter surfaced two days later when the younger sisters, aged six and 12 years, informed their mother, following which the family approached the police.
A case has been registered, and the accused has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), even as further investigation is underway.
