A major designer verbally abused and then slammed the door on a coalition established following a deadly crash that left a second employee quadriplegic, according to a new complaint.
The largest apartment building company in Australia, Meriton, has been sued for the August 2025 event where a practical pump fell on the set in Carlingford, northwest of Sydney.
The Construction Forestry and Maritime Employees Union has filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging that a Meriton individual refused to allow one of its people to visit the scene of the accident to look into what transpired the following morning.
CFMEU Anthony Dimitriou asserted that he had the right to check the site under secure working legislation because it was believed Meriton had broken the law.
However, according to the government’s lawsuit, Meriton individual Frank Mignemi allegedly threatened and verbally abused him after leaving the site.
” F*** off. Find f***ed. This is not a federation website. I don’t require this crap. I’ve got SafeWork and the police coming to conduct an investigation. The lawsuit claimed that Mr. Mignemi told him,” I don’t need the coalition around.”
It is claimed that Mr. Dimitriou complied with the request to leave, before Mr. Mignemi locked the page and shut the gate.
Meriton said it was” complying with all authorities and the analytical body in relation to an ongoing investigation,” but it did not comment on the particular allegations.
Michael Crosby, the senior officer of CFMEU NSW, stated to AAP that the “disaster” deserved research so that the families of those affected may receive answers.
Our obedience to Worksafe NSW was informed by our administrator, who was an experienced health and safety professional.
He is granted legal entrance. He received abusive treatment in public. This will not tolerate a violation of our freedoms.
The workers ‘ union affiliation was stated in the lawsuit as being General Beton’s employees.
The CFMEU is requesting compensatory problems.
