A man and a woman have died and another man has been rushed to hospital after their boat flipped near a northern NSW beach town.
The boat capsized while trying to cross the coastal bar at the mouth of the Clarence River at Yamba, about 133km north of Coffs Harbour, at about 6am on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the Yamba Breakwater, where they pulled a 52-year-old man from the water. He was rushed to Maclean District Hospital for assessment and mandatory testing.
A short time later, a woman was pulled from the water by a member of the public and another man was recovered by emergency crews.
Both were treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
Police say the man and woman are both believed to have been in their 50s, though they are yet to be formally identified.
NSW Police Force Marine Area Command have launched an investigation.
