Donald Trump’s slander complaint against the Wall Street Journal was denied by a US judge who had ruled that the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had the right to file a lawsuit.
Trump did not adhere to the “actual hate” regular that public figures must pass in defamation, according to Miami-based US District Judge Darrin Gayles.
That means they must demonstrate that a public speech about them was bogus as well as that the person or organization responsible for it knew or ought to have known.
Gayles wrote,” This objection doesn’t live up to this standard.”
” Quite the opposite,” it says.
The judge printed the judge’s denial and wrote that the WSJ’s investigators had already reached out to Trump for remark.
That let readers choose what to conclude, putting an end to Trump’s claim that the newspapers acted with true hatred, the judge said.
Gayles claimed that Trump could submit an updated version of the petition by April 27.
Trump filed a lawsuit against the WSJ and Rupert Murdoch, claiming that the alleged birthday greeting was fake and that it had caused him$ US10 billion ($ A14 billion ) in retribution.
The WSJ’s family, News Corp’s Dow Jones, defended the reliability of its July 17, 2025 content.
