A honeymoon to Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam turned tragic for a couple as gunmen opened fire on tourists holidaying in the Baisaran valley on Tuesday.
The husband was among the 28 people shot dead in one of the deadliest terror attacks on civilians since 26/11 in Mumbai. The woman, whose visuals beside her husband’s lifeless body went viral, was left distraught and frantically asking for help from locals after he was shot.

In the viral video, she is heard describing the attack on her husband. She said she was eating bhelpuri with her husband when the gunmen stormed the area, asked for her name and shot her husband.

Eyewitnesses painted a chilling picture of gunfire breaking the calm followed by desperate cries for help as lifeless bodies lay motionless on the ground.
Terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir’s Pahalgam town. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the terror attack was “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years”.
Baisaran, about six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam, is an expansive meadow ringed by dense pine forests and mountains and a favourite with visitors from across the country and the world. Armed terrorists came into the grassland, dubbed ‘mini Switzerland’, and started firing at tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking, officials and eyewitnesses said.
The tourists gathered at Baisaran were from several states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Among those killed was Karnataka businessman Manjunath Rao, who was from Shivamogga.
