Temperature to dip 2°C in Northwest India in next 2 days, these states to witness thunderstorm

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha have seen a rise of 2-5°C. Minimum temperatures were recorded to be below normal at a few places over Saurashtra Kutch; at some places over Jammu-Kashmir.

Cold wave continues to grip North Indian states. Weather in Delhi-NCR along with many parts of North India is witnessing a dip in temperatures with light rains. Whereas the mountains are receiving snowfall.  

The IMD has also forecasted fall in minimum temperatures by about 2°C likely over Northwest India during next two days and gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C thereafter. Thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorms also likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada on 27th and Madhya Pradesh & Vidarbha on 27th & 28th December. 

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha have seen a rise of 2-5°C and 1-3°C Maharashtra and Telangana whereas there has been a fall of 2-5°C in many parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat State during past 24 hours. 

Minimum temperatures were recorded to be below normal (-1°C to -3°C) at a few places over Saurashtra Kutch; at some places over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh,Gilgit- Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. 

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall/snowfall likely to be over Western Himalayan region and light rainfall over Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, Delhi recorded 19°C today with minimum temperature being 12.05 °C and a maximum being 21.2 °C.  

Conditions of cold wave and fog continue in North regions like Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. The IMD has also predicted very likely cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in some parts of Himachal Pradesh on 24th & 25th and in isolated pockets on 26th December. Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh to very likely witness cold wave conditions on 24th and 25th. Rajasthan has witnessed cold day conditions on 24th.  

Due to such severe conditions, many parts of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh witnessed below 0°C early morning whereas many parts of Central and West India recorded as low as 12-18°C. The IMD has recorded today’s lowest minimum temperature of 6.5°C in Patiala, Punjab.
