Head coach Daniel Vettori was clear cut in saying that the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have failed to put in collective efforts, leading to their downfall in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Sunrisers are in a must-win position for their remaining five matches to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Speaking ahead of SRH’s match against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday, Vettori said that the Sunrisers haven’t shown the consistency to be amongst the top teams in the ongoing competition.

“I don’t think we’ve put together complete performances. We’ve let ourselves down in one facet, probably in every match. You look at the good teams that are winning at the moment, they’ve been consistent across the board,” Vettori said in the pre-match press conference.
‘Very pleased with Aniket’
While Vettori was critical of SRH’s overall performance, he had words of praise for the 23-year-old Aniket Verma. Making his debut in the ongoing IPL edition, Vettori scored 190 runs from nine games at an average of 27.14 with a top score of 74.
“In terms of individuals, I’ve been very pleased with Aniket – coming into the side and the IPL for the first time and being able to play a style that’s really suited the team. He’s established himself as one of our key members,” Vettori added.

The Sunrisers are currently languishing at ninth in the table with six points and a net run rate of -1.103 thanks to wins in three out of nine games.
They will go into the game against GT after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets at the Chepauk. Harshal Patel won the Player of the Match award after he finished with figures of 4-0-28-4.
