A person has been detained after allegedly launching a replica firearm and a barricading himself inside a Sydney house on Sunday evening, triggering a lengthy authorities operation that closed a residential street for more than six hours.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to a house on Vangeli Street in Arndell Park, north of Sydney.
For more than six time, negotiations and the military police unit had support from PolAir, the Public Order, and the Riot Squad. The man immediately reported to officers that he had a rifle in his possession.

A 22-year-old male was detained by police at 8:30 p.m. and a replica firearm was sewn from the house. He was treated for minor wounds and taken to the hospital under officers protection.
As officers worked to end the standoff, Vangeli Street was closed.
Despite the extensive reaction, there was no threat to the community, according to authorities.
Police have set up a crime scene at the location and launched an investigation into the event.
