Ralf Schumacher has got engaged to Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne.
The former Formula 1 driver – who revealed he was in a same-sex relationship in July 2024 – and his partner have announced they are planning to get married, but declined to share any details about their plans.
In a joint Instagram post, in which Ralf and Etienne smiled and clinked their glasses, they wrote in both German and English: “We are pleased to confirm that Ralf Schumacher and his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne will be getting married. Both are delighted by the many kind congratulations they have received.
“Ralf and Étienne will not comment on any further personal details and kindly ask that their privacy be respected. Thank you for your understanding.”
But while the couple are not sharing wedding details, German publication Bild claimed the pair are looking to enjoy a three-day wedding celebration in Saint-Tropez, where they spend most of their time in May.
The 50-year-old motor racing star’s ex-wife Cora-Coraline Schumacher – who he married in 2001 and divorced in 2015 – has congratulated the couple.
She told Bild: “[My partner] Steven and I wish Ralf and Étienne all the best and much happiness.”
Ralf revealed his relationship with Etienne on Instagram in July 2024, sharing a photo of them watching a sunset with their arms around one another.
He captioned the post: “The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything.”
His and Cora-Coraline’s son, David Schumacher, offered his support for their relationship.
He wrote in the comments of the post: “I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you really feel very comfortable and secure, no matter if you are a man or a woman, I am 100% behind you dad and wish you all the best and congratulations.”
And Ralf’s friend, German actress Carmen Geiss, gushed about the couple’s relationship and revealed the pair have been together for two years.
She commented on Ralf’s post: “I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH. You have the best partner, Etienne, you can imagine.
“After 2 years you can finally show your love to the world. I have known Ralf for more than 25 years and he has always been a great joy to me. always liberal, a good-hearted person who I can call day and night and above all has always been honest with me in his position.
“I am happy that I got to be a part of this love and even more happy for the two who searched and found each other, because I also love Étienne deeply.”
