Priyanka Chopra thinks streaming and traditional cinema can coexist.

The 43-year-old actress insists that both mediums have their own strengths — and that neither is going anywhere.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Priyanka said: “Streaming has changed the game for entertainment, for sure, and it’s not going anywhere. I do not think theatrical is going anywhere either. Both mediums can be beautiful in their own way.”

The Quantico star pointed to her upcoming action-adventure film The Bluff as an example of the enduring appeal of old-fashioned filmmaking.

The actress explained: “We shot 100 per cent on location, and we used old-school filmmaking. We had all practical sets that we could work and interact with. So filmmakers will pick and choose the medium that they want to use.”

The movie star added that she welcomes the wider cultural shift towards global entertainment.

Priyanka – who was born in India but is now based in the US – said: “I love the fact that there are so many tools available for audiences to access entertainment from around the world. I love the fact that subtitled entertainment can actually win best picture today.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka previously claimed that she fought against “preconceived” ideas when she first arrived in Hollywood.

The actress achieved huge success in the Indian film industry before she made the move to America, and Priyanka admitted that it wasn’t an easy transition.

She told Variety: “People would be like, ‘Oh, you speak English well’. There was a preconceived notion of me whenever I went in for a meeting before I walked into the room.”

Priyanka moved to Los Angeles in 2013, and she admits that the transition was “terrifying”.

The actress was financially secure in India, but she opted to “blow it up” in search of a new life in America.

She said: “To restart your career in your 30s is terrifying. I was secure. I was doing well financially. I was established. And I chose to blow it up.”
