Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the board will take action against players who opt out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In 2025, Corbin Bosch left Peshawar Zalmi to play for Mumbai Indians. Now, in 2026, Blessing Muzarabani has left Islamabad United to join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while Dasun Shanaka is set to link up with Rajasthan Royals after leaving Lahore Qalandars.

Naqvi also said that a clash with the IPL was not a concern, stressing that the PSL could not be postponed because there was no other available window in the calendar.

“We will take action against those players according to the rules. There was a case last year, too [Corbin Bosch, who was banned from the PSL for one year], and the same thing will happen this time,” Naqvi said in a press conference on Sunday.

“Clashing with the IPL is not an issue because if players are going there, we’re getting excellent players coming here as well. We could not afford to postpone the PSL because we have no other window all year,” Naqvi added.

HAS PCB PUNISHED PLAYERS BEFORE?

While there has been no official decision yet on Blessing Muzarabani and Dasun Shanaka, the PCB did take action against Corbin Bosch last season after he pulled out of his Peshawar Zalmi deal.

Bosch became the first major flashpoint in the PSL vs IPL scheduling battle after withdrawing from PSL 2025 despite being picked by Zalmi in the Diamond category, in a deal reportedly worth around US$85,000. He later left to join Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams when the PSL and IPL overlapped for the first time.

The PCB issued him a legal notice, calling it a breach of contract. Although Bosch later apologised publicly, the board still imposed a one-year ban and a penalty fine, ruling him out of PSL 2026.

The PSL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, with matches set to be held in Lahore and Karachi. The games will be played behind closed doors due to ongoing security concerns and the country’s escalating fuel crisis. The opening ceremony has also been cancelled as part of cost-cutting measures.
