Pahalgam terror attack: Sketches of the suspected terrorists released by security agencies
Hashim Musa, the Pakistani terrorist behind the Pahalgam terror attack, was once a para commando in Pakistan’s special forces. Musa, now a key operative of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was sent to Jammu and Kashmir to carry out attacks on non-locals and security forces.
According to The Times of India, investigations highlighted the direct involvement of the Pakistani Army and the ISI in the attack, reinforcing India’s earlier claims of cross-border links to the massacre.

Talking about the close ties between terrorist groups, Pakistan’s state agencies and military, TOI quoted a security official saying, “It is possible that Pakistan’s special forces, like the Special Service Group (SSG), lent him to LeT.”
The para-commandos of the Special Service Group (SSG) are known for being highly trained in unconventional warfare and covert operations. Their intensive training emphasises physical conditioning, mental resilience, strategic planning, advanced weapon handling, hand-to-hand combat, and survival skills.
Musa’s military background was uncovered during the interrogation of 15 Kashmiri overground workers (OGWs) suspected of assisting the Pakistani attackers with logistics and reconnaissance, reported The Times of India.
Musa has emerged as the common link with past attacks as well, including the killings at Gagangir in Ganderbal in October 2024, where six non-locals and a doctor were murdered, and the attack at Buta Pathri in Baramulla, which left two army personnel and two army porters dead.
