A senior NSW police officer has died from an apparent gunshot wound at his Central Coast home, prompting a critical incident investigation.
The 56-year-old sergeant was found at a Bateau Bay residence on Monday morning.
Police said there were no indications the death was suspicious.
Forensic teams have established a crime scene at the property, as NSW Police conduct a formal investigation.
The findings will be referred to the state coroner.
“A critical incident investigation is underway, which will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
