The incident occurred in the Greater Noida area when the 18-year-old, identified as Devkaran, allegedly shot himself in the head inside his room. Family members rushed him to a nearby private hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Devkaran was a Class 12 student at a Delhi Public School (DPS) in Uttar Pradesh’s Dadri and is survived by his parents and a younger brother, who is reportedly differently abled. His father is a retired Army personnel who is now engaged in agriculture and property dealing in the village.

According to family members, Devkaran had gone to his room on the second floor shortly before the incident. Hearing the gunshot, his mother and younger brother rushed upstairs and found him lying in a pool of blood. Their cries alerted neighbours, who gathered at the house.

He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where doctors attempted to save him, but he died during treatment. The news of his death left the family devastated. At the time of the incident, other family members were engaged in their routine work.

Police teams, along with a forensic unit, reached the scene and collected evidence. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Officials said no suicide note was found at the spot, and the exact reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear. Investigators are examining his mobile phone, electronic devices, and family circumstances as part of the probe.

Senior Police officer Amit Kumar said further legal action would be taken after the post-mortem report is received. Villagers and relatives described Devkaran as a calm-natured boy with no known history of mental distress.
