Man charged after four police officers assaulted during violent Sydney arrest

A teenage male has been charged following a violent arrest in which he assaulted four police constables, fracturing one’s orbital socket.

Officers attended a home in Souter Place, Hebersham, 47km west of Sydney’s CBD, to arrest the 19-year-old man over domestic violence offences about 6.30pm Friday.

Police allege the man assaulted four male officers during the arrest.

Several family members allegedly tried to hinder police, leading officers to deploy OC spray.

“The man was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, before being taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment for injuries sustained during the arrest,” police said in a statement.

He has been charged with domestic violence assault, resisting officer in execution of duty, three counts assault police occasioning bodily harm, assault police and contravene ADVO.

All officers attended Blacktown Hospital, where they were treated for a range of injuries including for a fractured orbital bone, fractured coccyx and bruising.

The man was refused bail awaiting an appearance in Bail Division Court on Saturday.
