A 21-year-old woman in Maharashtra’s Nagpur has alleged rape, blackmail and forced marriage, prompting police to register an FIR against five persons and arrest the main accused, officials said. The case was reported from the Kapil Nagar police station area.
According to the complaint, the prime accused, identified as Mustaq Shakeel Ansari, was a school friend of the woman. On November 5, 2025, he allegedly called her to a location near a temple along the Pili river and later took her to a relative’s house, where he allegedly raped her.

The woman has further alleged that another accused, Raja Sheikh, along with two others, recorded a video of the incident. Police said the accused then used the video to blackmail her and allegedly forced her into marriage.
In her complaint, the woman also alleged that she was subjected to physical assault, pressured into maintaining a relationship, and taken to individuals claiming to perform occult practices. She further claimed that she was forced to consume meat against her will.
A police official said the woman had been living in the area with the accused after the marriage and later approached the police with her complaint.
Based on her statement, a case has been registered against five accused under relevant legal provisions. The main accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
Police have also urged the public to remain cautious and report any instances involving coercion and not fall prey to fraudulent godmen, asking citizens to report such incidents promptly.
