Matildas captain Sam Kerr has been quick to cast doubt on a report she will leave Chelsea at the end of the season to join ambitious US expansion club Denver Summit.

Network 10 reported Kerr, 32, has signed with the Colorado-based club in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) after six glittering seasons with Chelsea.

But in the wake of the report, Kerr posted on Snapchat: “Don’t believe everything you read in the media man, they know a decision before me.”

Kerr’s future has been up in the air at Chelsea, as she will be out of contract at the end of the season.

There has been widespread speculation this could be her final season at the club, where she has enjoyed one of the greatest careers in the Women’s Super League.

Following a long absence after an ACL injury, Kerr slowly made her way back to full fitness this season.

She had a goal assist in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in the second leg of their Women’s Champions League quarterfinal on Thursday AEDT.

But Arsenal advanced to the semifinals via a 3-2 aggregate across the two legs.

Kerr recently juggled her club duties with skippering the Matildas in their run to the Women’s Asian Cup final in Australia.

Earlier in her career, she announced herself as an international force in stints with NWSL clubs Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC and Chicago Red Stars before making the move to England.

Kerr’s potential signing would be a coup for Denver Summit, who have US Winter Olympics gold medallist Mikaela Shiffrin and NFL great Peyton Manning among their owners.
