A celebrity publicist has shed light on what could be next for controversial radio duo Kyle and Jackie-O after their show was sensationally pulled from the airwaves.

On Tuesday evening, Jackie “O” Henderson confirmed that she was departing the KIIS FM Kyle & Jackie O Show after 26 years following an intense on-air argument with Kyle Sandilands on February 20.

Henderson was in tears as shock jock co-host Sandilands berated her work performance live on air, alleging she was “off with the fairies” due to her obsession with astrology and had become ‘unfocused” in her role.

“You are off with the fairies with this sh*t. It’s mental,” Sandilands told his co-host, who was discussing astrology and birth charts.

ARN Media, which owns KIIS FM, confirmed in a statement that Henderson had “given notice she cannot continue to work with Mr Sandilands”.

“Ms Henderson will cease to present the Kyle and Jackie O Show,” the statement read.

What’s next for Kyle?

Sandilands has been temporarily taken off air due to “serious misconduct” and will not be returning to the mic for 14 days.

If he fails to rectify the “breach”, he will be sacked.

He has signed to a 10-year contract with ARN Media, cashing in $100m per year as part of the deal.

But with the recent controversy and Henderson’s departure, could this spell the end for Sandilands? Probably not, celebrity publicist Max Markson told NewsWire.

The talent manager said Sandilands would likely dust himself off once his suspension had passed and keep marching on.

All he has to do is apologise.

“Kyle – within 14 days – can obviously do a full apology, and he’ll be back getting his $100m-a-year for the next 8½ years,” Mr Markson told NewsWire.

“I mean it’s sad that they’ve split after 27 years or whatever … it’s sad.

“But he’ll just keep going.”

A trusted insider has explained the pivotal moment that Kyle and Jackie O’s relationship began to deteriorate, when Jackie started to open up about her addiction on-air, and Kyle failed to behave like a real friend.

But listeners probably won’t be hearing Kyle all on his lonesome.

Mr Markson told NewsWire that he expected the shock jock to replace Jackie-O with another female co-host.

“I don’t know who it’ll be though,” he said.

What about Jackie?

While Sandilands is expected to pick up the mic again after his suspension runs its course, the same may not be said for his former co-host.

“Jackie will not be on air(with Kyle),” Mr Markson stressed.

But while her stint with Sandilands is in the rearview mirror, this may not be the end of Henderson’s radio career, even with ARN Media.

Mr Markson said she “will do whatever she wants to do” in the future – be it on the airwaves or off.

“(If) she wants to go back on air, she’ll go back on air there (at ARN) or she’ll go back wherever she wants to go,” he said.

“Or she doesn’t want to go on air at all. She doesn’t have to – that’s her call.”

However, Mr Markson doesn’t expect her to launch a podcast or turn to an alternative platform.

“There’s not as much money in podcasts,” he said.
