An Indian woman living in Amsterdam shared a touching experience online after losing her keys during a routine commute, only to discover them later thanks to the kindness of an unknown stranger.
Instagram user Apoorva posted the video recounting the incident, using on-screen text and clips from her cycling route to narrate how the situation unfolded and how a small act of thoughtfulness helped her recover her lost keys.

In the post, she explained that the trouble began while she was returning home from a class.
“Yesterday I lost my entire set of keys on my way back home from my class. I wasn’t sure if they fell out of my jacket pocket while cycling or if I dropped them at the train station parking lot when I unlocked my bike. I only realised they were missing after I reached my apartment when I needed them to open the building door. So I decided to cycle 3 km back to the station to retrace my route and try to find them.”
The video showed short snippets of her cycling through quiet streets and pathways as she retraced her earlier journey, hoping to catch a glimpse of the missing keys.
However, after searching for some time, she began to lose hope.
“I decided to just head back home, still scanning the road one last time, even though I had almost no hope left. At this point I was already stressing because when we moved in, the housing agency told us there are no spare keys if we lose the two we have. So on my way back I was already thinking – how are two people in this house going to survive with just one set of keys?”
Determined to try everything possible, she even adjusted the way she cycled in an attempt to replicate her earlier route.
“On my way back, I tried to follow the exact same route I took earlier. Normally you’re supposed to cycle on the right side, but I rode on the left side of the path because that was the side I had used when coming home – hoping I might spot the keys. And yes, I even got scolded by a couple of cyclists for riding on the wrong side.”
Despite spending nearly half an hour searching along the road and around the train station parking area, she initially found nothing.
“I searched the whole path and then the train station bike parking for about 30 minutes. Nothing.”
Just as she was about to give up, something unexpected happened.
“And then about 200 meters from the train station parking. This is how I found them.”
In the clip that follows, the keys were seen carefully wrapped around a roadside pole in plain sight, likely placed there by someone who had found them, so the owner could easily locate them if they returned looking.
The moment clearly moved her, and she thanked the unknown stranger in her caption.
“To that kind human who did this – Thank you! My mental peace of two months was saved. From today my keys always go into my bags.”
