Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said Bose had completely lost control and started badly assaulting the biker.
“He was hitting him like mad, had lost control completely,” said one of the eyewitnesses.
“We tried to stop the fight, but the officer was out of control,” another one said.
“We are not taking sides, but the IAF officer too should follow the law. He landed 15-20 blows, flung Vikas’s phone with full force as he attempted to record the incident,” they said.
Vikas, who works at a software company’s call centre, was arrested in connection with the incident after the Air Force officer, in a self-recorded video on social media, alleged he was assaulted and verbally abused by a group of Kannada-speaking individuals who chased him on a bike in Bengaluru early Monday.
The police later termed it a case of road rage and said both parties attacked each other.
Videos widely being shared on social media showed the IAF officer roughing up Vikas and hitting him, even as his wife tried to stop him.
The incident occurred while the officer was on his way to the airport with his wife, who is also an IAF officer.
