Nepal on Sunday paid tribute to the popular Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai after suffering a heart attack.

Bhosle was 92, and she had contributed several songs for Nepalese films during the 1970s and 1980s, which made her popular among the Nepalese audience.

“She has given her voice to the Nepalese films and songs, which helped Nepalese music to get connected to the global taste,” writes onlinekhabar.com, a popular online news portal.

“Her contribution to Nepalese music helped Nepalese playback songs gain height. Her songs not only become a hit, but they are also deeply connected to the Nepalese sentiment,” added onlinekhabar.com.

Asha has worked with Nepal’s noted music personalities such as Narayan Gopal, Sambhujit Baskota, Kiran Kharel, and Udit Narayan, among others.

Some of Asha’s Nepali hit songs include ‘Gairi Khet ma,’ ‘Mohani Lagla Hai,’ and ‘Mirmire Sanjha ma.’

She has done more than a dozen songs in the Nepali language.

She was the favourite singer of Nepal’s Swor Samrat or ‘Voice King’ Narayan Gopal. She has done several duets with Narayan Gopal, such as ‘Pahad ko Mathi Mathi,’ ‘Mohani Lagla Hai,’ ‘Maya ta Maya ho.’

“Though now she is not with us physically, but her timeless voice will always remain in the minds of the Nepalese people,” mentions another popular news portal, ratopati.com.

“Asha has a very deep connection with Nepal, because she has given her voice to several Nepali hit songs. She has always remained in the hearts of all the Nepalese,” writes the news portal.

The news about Bhosle’s demise has received wide coverage in Nepalese media.
