Ingredients:
- Oats: ½ cup
- Moong dal (lentil dal): ¼ cup
- Cashews: 6
- Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
- Peppercorns: 1 tsp
- Ghee: as required
- Salt: to taste
Method
- Soak the moong dal for about 10 minutes, then boil until soft and cooked through.
- In a separate pan, heat ghee and lightly roast the oats for about 5 seconds.
- Add just under ¼ cup of water to the oats and allow them to cook thoroughly.
- Once the oats are cooked, mix in the boiled dal and add salt to taste.
- In a small pan, fry the cumin seeds, peppercorns, and cashews in ghee until golden, and add them to the Pongal mixture. Stir well and serve hot.
