The makers of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series have unveiled its first teaser, offering fans an early glimpse into the much-awaited adaptation. The show is slated for a Christmas 2026 release and revisits the beginning of Harry Potter’s journey at Hogwarts.
Based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the series follows Harry, Ron and Hermione during their first year at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The teaser traces Harry’s life before discovering his magical roots, including moments of neglect and bullying, before he steps into a world of wonder.

Several key characters make brief appearances, including Aunt Petunia, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, Ollivander, Professor McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid. One of the standout moments features Hagrid reassuring Harry about his parents, calling them “the bravest, kindest people” he has known. Ollivander, meanwhile, hints at Harry’s future, suggesting that great things lie ahead for him.
The official logline emphasises Harry’s transformation from an ordinary boy into someone navigating a magical universe filled with friendship, mystery and looming danger, as he begins to confront a shadowy force tied to his past.

The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The ensemble also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
The project is helmed by Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, known for their work on Succession. Gardiner serves as writer and showrunner, while Mylod directs multiple episodes. The series is based on the bestselling books by JK Rowling, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman.
The show will stream on HBO Max in regions where the service is available. For Indian audiences, it will be available on JioHotstar.
