West Coast keeper Harry Edwards will spend an extended period of time on the sidelines as he recovers from the most recent trauma in his stop-start AFL profession.
In a marking competition, friend Matt Flynn hit an unintentional arm to the scalp in the beginning quarter of Sunday’s 17-point victory over North Melbourne.
Edwards tried to keep his composure while on all fours, but the call appeared to be only a glancing punch.
Edwards ultimately rose up and attempted to expel the instructors, but the situation returned.
The 24-year-old was playing his second game since picking up a trauma in the first few days of a pre-season defeat to Port Adelaide.
The 56-game keeper is now scheduled to receive an expanded crack to look after his long-term health after suffering two more injuries earlier in his career.
West Coast mentor Andrew McQualter said,” I’m imagining he’ll invest a little bit of time away from the game then trying to get himself good and proper again, and we’ll do everything we can help him.”
After sun backman Jeremy McGovern was forced to retire next year according to his own injury issues, Edwards ‘ loss is a significant blow to West Coast.
In better news, Liam Baker, the co-captain, appears to have avoided big injury after breaking his ankle in the match’s final minutes.
When Cam Zurhaar fell across his knee during a address, forcing the original Tiger off the ground, Baker’s left hip oddly twisted.
” I believe he’s all right,” McQualter said.
He was hopping around in the rooms, looking very happy, and I nodded off,” Are you great?” And he responded,” Yes, I think I’ve avoided everything severe.”
West Coast’s 17.9 ( 111 ) to 15.4 ( 94 ) win snapped a 12-game losing streak for the Eagles.
