Richmond’s most recent victory was in mid-July, and Essendon’s in late May. There is every possibility both venues will still be winless when they meet second quarter for Dreamtime.

The Tigers suffered their seventh defeat in a column on Saturday when they were easily defeated by Port Adelaide in a raunchy activity that was broadcast behind a wall and fit for the off-Broadway newscast of Saturday Twilight.

The fans were headed up the aisles first into the last quarter when Port’s direct ballooned out to 43 points, having seen enough of a functionality that shows how long the route will be from the lower reaches of the staircase.

After a successful review in 2024, the Tigers ‘ rebuilding efforts are complete, but it takes ages for Adem Yze’s young people, who have only recently left floor zero, to realize their potential.

Port were next year overrun by West Coast, yet they had sections on these Tiger kittens, though it can be argued Richmond are better-placed much name for the way they have chosen.

The Tigers have won just two of their previous 18 games and are their worst start to a year since Damien Hardwick’s first time in charge. Their 0-4 launch is their worst start to a period since 2010.

North Melbourne in a month and West Coast aside in circular eight form as their two most winning activities before their Magical clash with Essendon in rounded 11. The Aircraft will start ranking strangers in every match up until that star event, with the exception of Melbourne’s Gather Round next week.

At a level where they need total presence to be dynamic, Richmond cannot capture the breaks of Toby Nankervis, Tom Lynch and Noah Balta. Their children aren’t yet available.

While there was no faulting the Tigers ‘ energy and nature, they did not have the ability or knowhow to issue Port for long enough to examine expose any flaws.

Aliir Aliir and Jonty Faull are tasked with dominating their match-up, which is more than should be expected of a second-year forward. All up, 18 of his 23 possessions were intercepts, including eight marks.

Have your key defender mark long balls is plan A when coaches set their defensive plans. Richmond fueled Port’s game.

” If I could plan that perfectly, that we can shut them down and have them kick it straight to Aliir, that would be a perfect play”, Port coach Josh Carr said.

” We want to defend well, we want to defend the transition, and we want to send them long down the line,” I’d say every team wants to do. And Aliir in his one-on-ones was outstanding”.

The highlight of Richmond’s game came late in the second quarter when they scored three red-time goals, and in the final third period when they had control of the play but were unable to convert.

Tigers fans needing a reason to keep turning up will have to make do with glimpses of the future, such as Liam Fawcett’s two-goal spurt just before half-time, Sam Lalor’s long-range bomb and the tenacity of the aptly named Steely Green, who lacks not for hardness but, as yet, does not have the poise to finish that comes with maturity.

Or perhaps they can find some relief in Sam Grlj’s tenacity to worry Jason Horne-Francis into error, or how they won the clearances and inside 50s.

What they do not want to see is mindless acts like Samson Ryan’s gut punch on Jordon Sweet, which gifted a goal to Corey Durdin and has placed him at risk of suspension. After the game, Ryan apologized to Yze for a move that the coach called” crush your spirit.”

Yze said the morale in the dressing room remained high despite the lack of wins.

” I think if I felt there was a problem with that, I think we would have turned our toes up after quarter-time, and it would have been a lot harder,” Yze said.

” I don’t sense that.

We are successful in many of the key ways you want to succeed in a game. We’ve just in the back half of last year, and start of this year, we’ve just battled with some experience that have gone out of our team, and our injury list is just way too big.

We’re really competitive, and we should have won the game early in the season, and the first round was very similar, according to the team’s availability.

” Right now, there’s a little bit of pain, but I feel like the silver lining for these young boys getting an opportunity while we’re going through what we’re going through, and the guys that are out, when they come back in, I feel like we will be really competitive against anyone.”

Fans of Footy, thanks for joining us for our live coverage today. We are calling it a night.

In a nutshell, Port Adelaide comfortably accounted for Richmond at the MCG while the Swans destroyed the Eagles in Perth.

Be sure to keep an eye on our coverage of Sunday’s games.

Isaac Heeney, a star of Sydney, had a big night.

Not only has he delivered a game against West Coast that should earn him three Brownlow votes – 26 possessions and four goals – he has also launched a mark of the year contender.

Heeney hanged Harley Reid, a young gun from West Coast.

As Reid came back with the flight of the ball, Heeney used him as a stepladder, climbing high to pluck a classic grab.

With a score of 128 points, the Swans won by a moment Heeney and Reid both wished for.

West Coast coach Andrew McQualter has defended star youngster Harley Reid after the former No. During the side’s 128-point thrashing at the hands of Sydney, a draft pick was criticized for having poor discipline at times.

Reid copped heat from commentators for giving away a 50-metre penalty in the centre of the ground that resulted in a Sydney goal, as well as engaging in a number of fierce clashes with Sydney’s Angus Sheldrick.

Reid and Sheldrick had a disagreement at one point after the Sydney midfielder elbowed Reuben Ginbey to the head, which the MRO will examine.

” I don’t want Harley to give away free kicks, and we talk about that,” McQualter said after the game.

Tom Papley is a unique individual.

He entertains us at the conclusion of the game by celebrating his 200th game against the Eagles with 24 possessions and two goals.

” I was having a think about it over that last quarter there, and you are pretty grateful”, he says on Fox Footy during a post-match interview about his milestone game.

” The Swans took a chance on me and I just wanted to repay the faith, but I could be in Bunyip or in plumbing.”

” They didn’t have to pick me. Just me, a fat bunyip bloke who had some breakfast pies and piss.

” But I got to work when I got here, and didn’t waste an opportunity. I adore entering the club every day. I’m an energetic bloke and I don’t want to waste a day”.

On a night when Isaac Heeney blitzed and Harley Reid failed, the Swans defeated the West Coast Eagles by 128 points.

Heeney returned to the side after suffering a hamstring strain in round one and took little time to find elite form. Before being sent to the bench for a rest, he kicked four goals and had 26 disposals.

Reid, on the other hand, had a frustrating night. He only managed eight kicks and seven handballs for the game and was constrained by a James Jordan tag.

He also suffered the indignity of Heeney using him as a stepladder to take a hangar.

However, it was his instances of poor discipline that caused a stir among the commentators.

Harley Reid has been caught up in another heated clash, but this time Swan Angus Sheldrick is the player most likely to come under scrutiny.

The star Eagle’s actions were criticized by Fox Footy commentator David King after Reid was caught on camera repeating his thoughts to Sheldrick in the final quarter.

” I think at some stage the coach has to remove the player from the ground,” King says.

There must be punishment, they say.

But on rewatching the incident, King was also critical of Sheldrick who appears to elbow Eagles defender Reuben Ginbey in the head.

There are few highlights for West Coast Eagles against Sydney tonight, but fans will be enjoying the efforts of No. Willem Duursma, the first draft pick.

The first-year player has kicked two goals and shown a willingness to win the ball around the ground.

The final quarter’s first goal was kicked by him. Swans star Tom Papley then followed up with the second of the term.

Papley also has his second of the night win in his 200th game.

Sixteen minutes remaining, Sydney 21.10 ( 136 ) lead West Coast 4.11 ( 35 )

The commentators have criticized Harley Reid for his subpar performance tonight.

The young gun has only had 10 possessions until three-quarter-time and has been given a master class from opponent Isaac Heeney, who has booted four goals and had 23 possessions.

Reid was criticized by Fox Footy’s David King after he awarded a 50-meter penalty in the middle of the field.

A free kick was paid to Sydney ruckman Brodie Grundy and Reid just tapped the loose ball away.

Isaac Heeney could put the cue in the rack right now and still get the three Brownlow votes.

He kicks the third-term’s opening goal to make it three for himself for the night. Add to that his 20 disposals and he has been an elite performer.

The Eagles did not want this to be their first move. They trailed by 63 points at half-time break – and have already coughed up three goals in the opening three minutes of the third quarter.

Charlie Curnow has his fourth goal, while Nick Blakey has drifted forward to kick it.

This might actually make Carlton and Michael Voss feel better about themselves after copping a 63-point drubbing against the Swans in the opening round. At least the Blues had a 10 point lead at half-time.
