Police are hoping that “even the smallest piece of information” could lead them to a missing man who is believed to have ventured into bushland in Perth’s east.

Gary Wilkinson, 50, was last seen by his family on March 31 leaving a Walpole Street address in St James in a black Toyota HiLux with WA registration 1HUE349.

Neither Mr Wilkinson or his vehicle had been located as of Tuesday morning — one week after he went missing.

Cannington Police officer in charge Tara Brown said police had information which suggested the Hilux was in the Mundaring, Childlow and Kalamunda areas.

“Even the smallest piece of information could be important, Sen. Sgt. Brown said.

“Anyone in the Kalamunda Mundaring and Chidlow areas to remain vigilant and observant, particularly around mountain bike trails, surrounding bushland, local roads or parking areas, and to report anything they think may assist in locating Mr Wilkinson.

“We ask members of the public to be observant, vigilant and check any CCTV dash cam or recorded footage that may capture Gary or his vehicle moving within or around those locations.

“His family are really concerned, particularly given they haven’t had contact with him for several days.

At this stage, police are treating the matter as a welfare matter. There is no information to suggest any suspicious circumstances, and our focus remains on locating Gary and ensuring he’s safe and well.”

Sen. Sgt. Brown said Mr Wilkinson had a keen interest in mountain biking but that it was unknown whether he had a bike with him.

Anyone with information or who sees Mr Wilkinson or his vehicle is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.
