Scotland’s Connor Syme has won the French Open, claiming his first name on the German visit.

The 29-year-old went into Sunday’s last square with a two-shot guide over playing companion Joakim Lagergren and maintained the same benefits despite a beautiful final hawk from the Swede.

Syme finished 11 under, shooting a one-under-par 70 on Sunday and making only one birdie in his last 38 slots.

” Amazing, it was so, but challenging the last few time”, said the Scot.

” I only felt so much better this year, I felt truly ready to do it, and I’m so, so glad I managed to do it”.

Wife Alanis flew over to Amsterdam to surprise Syme on the last alternative, where he also enjoyed champagne-drenched celebrations with compatriot Ewen Ferguson- who had a hole in one earlier in the day to support him complete in a tie for third- and England’s Richard Mansell.

” It’s so, so nice they stuck around”, said Syme. ” I’ve certainly been definitely pleased for them and I’m really glad to possess joined them and won myself, but just incredible. Amazing”.

Lagergren finished nine under, with South Africa’s Jayden Schaper next on four under. Ferguson, brother Scot Richie Ramsay and Englishman Jack Senior were a farther shot back to share third.
