Global superstar Ed Sheeran has been snapped performing in the foyer of Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
It has only been a week since the pop superstar began a three-day run of shows at Marvel Stadium, but Sheeran made time to visit and perform for the patients and staff at the Children’s.
In a statement, the hospital said the show was an unexpected stop.
“It’s days like this that remind us of how many people want to support the children and families we care for at the hospital,” Dr Peter Steer, the hospital’s CEO, said in the statement.
“Thank you to Ed and his team for helping make this moment so special.”
This is the third time the hospital has welcomed Sheeran, who also performed in 2023 and visited in 2015.
The 35-year-old has made the news several times in Melbourne over the past week, arriving in the city after taking the overnight train from Sydney and spending time at the graveside of his late friend and mentor Michael Gudinski in St Kilda.
The last date of his Australian tour is in Adelaide on Thursday. There have been rumours that Sheeran will also perform ahead of the St Kilda-Collingwood game at the MCG on Sunday.
The Age has contacted Frontier Touring for comment on this rumour.
More to come.
