Distillery Botanica is set among three acres of carefully curated botanical gardens, home to Distillery Botanica’s eponymous spirit label and the range of master distiller Phillip Moore’s Moore’s Dry Gins.
Originally focused on the botanical gardens growing herbs, botanicals, flowers and fruits for the various distillations, guests to the distillery can do guided tours of the gardens, spirit tastings, gin-blending masterclasses, or knock back cocktails in the on-site, mud brick-hewn cocktail bar if more academic pursuits aren’t on the agenda. It’s an immersive kind of experience and near-unique in its scope and scale, a half-day out that welcomes in visitors to enjoy the bucolic setting in a casual, relaxed way.
Highlights include Moore’s Dry Gin, the standard bearer of the distillery, produced from Moore’s infinite detail in blending, a juniper-laden dram that feels stippled with peppery spice, leafy herbs and gentle floral lift – take it with soda and a green olive for best results.
