The national capital and the adjoining NCR region received rain showers in several parts on Saturday, i.e., May 17, which brought much-needed respite from soaring temperatures.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, signifying light to moderate rainfall.
The maximum temperature of Delhi stands at 42 degrees celsius while the minimum remains at 24.3 degrees celsius.
Earlier on Friday, i.e., several parts of Delhi was hit by dust storms and light rainfall. This followed a dip in the Air Quality Index (AQI) on Thursday, when severe dust torms lowered the visibility in several parts of the city.
The IMD has said that a strong north-south pressure gradient over northwest India led to dust-raising surface winds affecting – Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and north Rajasthan from the night of May 14. Meanwhile, as rain showers brought relief from heat, several areas of Delhi faced waterlogging, disrupting normal life.
