Dyson Daniels and Jock Landale have helped Atlanta past the Eastern Conference pace-setting Pistons 130-129 in overtime to continue the Hawks’ fine NBA run.

Hosts Detroit surged from 21 points behind to force OT on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), but left with heads in hands after Jalen Duren’s game-winning attempt bounced off the front of the rim.

It was the Hawks’ 13th win from their last 15 games as the league’s hottest team fights to cement a top-six finish in the East and avoid a play-in berth.

Daniels (16 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals) was a menace all night at both ends and swished a floater late in overtime to seal the win.

The Boomers guard finished with a career-high eight offensive rebounds, something no Hawks back-courter had achieved since Josh Childress in 2008.

National teammate Landale (five points, 10 rebounds, two assists) was defending Duren (26 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists) when his final shot bounced out as he continued his high-impact season since joining the surging Hawks.

Jalen Johnson and CJ McCollum both had 27 points for Atlanta, the former adding 12 assists and 12 assists.

The Pistons, who are close to securing top seed, had beaten the Hawks in all three of their previous match-ups this season and won their last four games despite the absence of All-Star guard Cade Cunningham (collapsed lung).

Elsewhere, Josh Giddey was one rebound shy of a 13th triple-double this season as his Chicago were blown away by Philadelphia 157-137.

The Boomers star scored 23 points on 61.5 per cent shooting and added 12 assists and averages 17.6 points, 9.2 assists and 8.3 rebounds in 50 games this season.

But his offence was no match for the restocked 76ers, who built an early buffer then exploded in a 51-point third quarter that put the contest to bed.

Joel Embiid starred with 35 points on 70 per cent shooting in his return from an oblique injury, while Paul George had 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in his return from a ban that saw him miss 25 games for taking “improper medication”.

Luka Doncic scored 43 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 137-130 road win over Indiana.

Austin Reaves scored 25 points and LeBron James scored 23 to help the third-placed Lakers to a 10th win from their last 11 games.

And Jaylen Brown scored 14 of his 31 points a pivotal third quarter as Boston rallied to beat Oklahoma City 119-109, snapping the defending champions’ 12-game win streak.
